IT IT “Outstanding Gold Award” for Huawei at the 2025 Hong Kong Privacy-Friendly Awards -

An “Outstanding Gold Award” was given to Huawei Services (Hong Kong) Co., Limited at the Hong Kong Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data’s (PCPD) “Privacy-Friendly Awards 2025” Presentation Ceremony. Huawei’s effectiveness in protecting the privacy of personal data is acknowledged by the award. It also shows the company’s long-term dedication to privacy governance and its consistent investment in it. A key component of Hong Kong’s economic growth and the foundation of creating a smart city is data security. In its capacity as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s sole privacy regulator, PCPD engages in cross-border cooperation, public education, and regulatory enforcement. PCPD encourages businesses to include privacy protection in their company policies and culture in response to the difficulties posed by emerging technologies and cybersecurity threats, as well as the growing public demands for the privacy of personal data. To help achieve this goal, the Privacy-Friendly Awards were introduced in 2021.

With the subject “Safeguarding Data Security: Marching towards a New Digital Era,” the “Privacy-Friendly Awards 2025” sought to honor and praise businesses, public and private groups, and government agencies for their dedication to and effectiveness in preserving the privacy of personal information. Along with strengthening data security, the awards also seek to increase awareness of data protection and promote the implementation of good data governance practices. “Outstanding Gold Award,” “Gold Award,” “Silver Award,” and “Bronze Award” were the four levels of awards given to organizations depending on the amount of “Privacy Protection Measures” they had undertaken.

The highest honor, the “Outstanding Gold Award,” was given to just 12 of the 157 competing organizations. Huawei received praise for putting in place a thorough privacy management system, creating strong protocols for dealing with data breaches, regularly simulating data breaches, and offering a range of privacy awareness training courses to staff members.
