CARS CARS Fully charged: the A6 e-tron from Copenhagen to Bergen -

In the A6 Sportback e-tron performance¹, a small team of journalists went 1,000 kilometers across three countries—Denmark, Sweden, and Norway—using only electricity. From Copenhagen to Bergen, they traveled in the luxury Audi around quaint villages, over magnificent bridges, and past stunning fjords, national parks, and waterfalls.

The advantages of all-electric travel are best enjoyed in Scandinavia. There is a well-developed infrastructure for rapid charging, and electric vehicles are occasionally permitted to park and use bus lanes for free. A small party of journalists discovers on this unique vacation that traveling by car in Scandinavia is not only fantastic for driving but also for taking in the breathtaking scenery. We go east from Copenhagen over the world’s largest cable-stayed bridge and the roughly four-kilometer-long Drogden Tunnel for our first stage, which is around 600 kilometers long. The A6 e-tron’s battery receives 27 kWh from the 350 kW fast-charging station in just seven minutes, so it’s time for a rapid recharge after traveling a solid 470 kilometers. We reach our target for the day, Oslo, as the Audi travels the final 140 kilometers in near silence.

The A6 e-tron can truly display its dynamic handling on day two as the metropolitan highway gives way to well-maintained rural roads that progressively get narrower and windier. “What an amazing driving experience!” exclaims one of the participants. The natural splendor of Eidfjord, the Hardangervidda Passage, and the Vøringsfossen waterfall is absolutely unmatched.

After making one last, brief charging break at kilometer 855, the journey on the all-electric A6 continues in the direction of Bergen, crossing the striking Hardanger Bridge, which is 1,380 meters long, and going through the Vallavik Tunnel, which is more than 7,700 meters long. We have arrived in Bergen, the second-biggest city in Norway and the port of departure for the renowned Hurtigruten mail ships, when the odometer reaches 1,057 kilometers.
