Mediana, (lat. Mediana) is an archaeological park in Nis. It is located on the road going from Nis to Niska Banja. It was built during the time of Emperor Constantine the Great. It consists of a Roman settlement with summer houses and agricultural farms, at the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th century.
Since Constantine the Great’s close friend, Remetlek, was from a distinguished family with a desire to continue living in a luxurious environment, his desire was to build large complexes on land plots. That’s what he did in Nais, (the old name of the city of Nis). He started building a large complex in the 3rd century.

At the end of 2022, the archeological park of Mediana is open to visitors. The reason for not opening the park was the collection of archaeological sites.
The archeological site of Mediana is classified under the protection of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Nis.

The purpose of Medijana is agricultural property with a distribution center, with residential and economic buildings. Later in the 4th century, Mediana received the status of a summer resort, due to the natural habitat in the Niška spa, which was a place for recovery, where emperors and civil servants rested, enjoyed and were treated.
The area of the archaeological settlement covers 40ha, with currently 80 buildings. According to new findings, the area of the archaeological site extends over a much larger area.
