Compared to its predecessor, the new CLA gives consumers more in every way: more room, more sophistication, more comfort, more intelligence, and more efficiency. It is the first model in a brand-new family of automobiles and the most intelligent Mercedes-Benz ever produced. There will be high-tech hybrid and electric propulsion options for each new vehicle. The all-electric CLA makes its premiere.

As the first car to run entirely on the proprietary Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), the new CLA is the most intelligent Mercedes-Benz ever. With the new AI-enhanced system, every car may have a supercomputer that is linked to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. For the first time, this makes it possible for the most crucial car features, such as driver assistance systems, to get frequent over-the-air updates [1]. For years to come, this keeps the CLA current and appealing.

The fourth generation of MBUX begins with MB.OS. It creates new benchmarks in the automobile sector and offers up a world of customized experiences and natural human-vehicle connection. The first in-car infotainment system to use artificial intelligence (AI) from both Google and Microsoft is the latest MBUX version. For the first time, this integrates several AI agents into a single system. The most flexibility for smoothly integrating material from other sources is provided by MB.OS. The familiar customer experience is still provided via the standard Mercedes interface.

The Unity Game Engine’s real-time visuals and cutting-edge high-performance CPUs power the MBUX Superscreen. Customized to each customer’s preferences is the new control and display idea. The center display’s enhanced MBUX Zero Layer displays the most crucial data, recommendations, and—for the first time—the most recently used applications. Apps may now be moved and sorted into folders with unique names in the app view, much as on a smartphone. A quick swipe to the left while an app is launched brings it back to the app screen. To return to the Zero Layer, the user must swipe again. Instead, users may always use the home button to go straight to the Zero Layer.

The new MBUX Virtual Assistant transforms the interaction between a car and its driver using generative AI. It possesses short-term memory and allows for the types of intricate, multi-turn conversations that one may have with a friend. It integrates the collective knowledge of the internet and is based on ChatGPT-4o and Microsoft Bing searches. The virtual assistant is also knowledgeable about questions pertaining to navigation because of Google Gemini. In order to give consumers thorough and customized responses to inquiries regarding navigation, areas of interest, and much more, it may access data from the Google Maps platform. The Mercedes-Benz star serves as the “living” avatar of the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which is constantly present on the Zero Layer. It can identify emotions and react appropriately during an active conversation.

Google Maps serves as the basis for the navigating experience in the new CLA. One of the earliest integrations of Google Maps with Google Cloud’s new Automotive AI Agent for in-car chat services is the navigation system created as part of the collaboration between Google and Mercedes-Benz. Based on a number of variables, Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence determines the quickest and most practical route, including breaks for charging. MBUX Surround Navigation also takes integrated visual communication to a new level. Real-time route advice and a 3D depiction of the environment are seamlessly integrated with the driving-assistance perspective on the driver display. By observing what the CLA sees and how the assistance systems help them, drivers get better situational awareness.

Numerous safety features, including DISTRONIC Distance Assist, are standard on the new CLA models in Europe. With the designation MB.DRIVE², Mercedes-Benz bundles additional comfort assistance technologies. Starting with the market debut, DRIVE ASSIST will be an optional feature throughout Europe. This cutting-edge SAE Level 2 driver aid system combines Steering Assist with Distance Assist DISTRONIC. With just a flick of the indicator lever, Lane Change Assist—a new feature in the CLA—allows for lane changes. Numerous mishaps can be avoided with the use of safety aids.

Compared to its non-electrified predecessor, the new all-electric CLA has a 40% lower carbon footprint across the whole value chain. The CLA is revolutionizing electric mobility in daily life with its exceptionally low consumption and remarkable range in its sector. The CLA 250+ with EQ Technology (combined energy consumption: 14.1–12.2 kWh/100 km | CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km | CO₂ class: A) is the first vehicle to hit the market. and the EQ-equipped CLA 350 4MATIC (combined energy use: 14.7–12.5 kWh/100 km | CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km | CO₂ class: A). 3. The 200 kW CLA 250+ with EQ Technology has a big radius for its class, with a range of up to 792 kilometers according to the WLTP.

When combined with the latest battery generation, the 800-volt system may drastically cut down on charging time. Within 10 minutes, the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology may be fully charged, extending its range to 325 kilometers. The CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4MATIC are capable of fast DC charging up to 320 kW.

With a usable energy capacity of 85 kWh, the highest variety of lithium-ion batteries is included in the new all-electric cars CLA 250+ and CLA 350 4MATIC. The anodes of the cells combine graphite and silicon oxide. There has been a 20% improvement in the gravimetric energy density compared to the prior battery with typical graphite anodes. The cell chemistry has a volumetric energy density of 680 Wh/l. The amount of cobalt has been further decreased. Comparing the new battery generation to its predecessor, the carbon footprint is reduced by around 30% per cell. The utilization of power from renewable energy sources in the manufacture of anodes, cathodes, and cell housings, as well as carbon reduction initiatives and net carbon neutral cell production, are responsible for this.

Dynamism and great efficiency are combined in every condition by the two-speed gearbox on the primary drive at the rear axle. Excellent acceleration and a large towing capacity are made possible by the first gear. It provides excellent efficiency in city traffic as well. On the freeway, the second gear is made to provide power efficiently and at high speeds. It guarantees exceptional range and comfort over extended distances. The second gear is also used to reach the maximum speed.

The first Mercedes-Benz car with an air-to-air heat pump is the electrified CLA. As a so-called multi-source model, it can use three energy sources simultaneously: the battery, the ambient air, and the waste heat from the electric powertrain. It also does not need to go through a water circuit. The air-to-air heat pump adds to the CLA’s high efficiency by using this “free” heat. For the same output, it uses only around one-third of the electrical energy required by a similar auxiliary heater.

The implementation of Mercedes-Benz’s sustainable business plan heavily relies on all-electric cars. However, the rate of this change is determined by the preferences and mobility requirements of consumers in various parts of the world. The new CLA will also be offered as a hybrid at the end of the year, with an electric motor built into the gearbox and 48-volt technology. The CLA model family’s modular design gives Mercedes-Benz the most manufacturing and driving concept flexibility. Three power levels will initially be offered for the CLA hybrid’s cutting-edge combustion engine. Customers can choose between 4MATIC all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.

A highly integrated unit is made up of the electric motor, inverter, and transmission. The whole speed range is intelligently supported by the electric motor. In urban settings and when less than 20 kW is required, the hybrid versions may operate only on electricity. One can achieve so-called electric cruising at up to 100 km/h. The combustion engine’s capacity to recover energy in all eight gears, up to 25 kW, is one of its unique features.

With its captivating combination of passion and intellect, the CLA with EQ Technology redefines desire. The muscular GT rear, low overhangs, and extended wheelbase are all emotive manifestations of athletic strength. Large wheels, a long bonnet with power domes, and a low greenhouse all contribute to the car’s athletic proportions. The powerful, athletic shoulders of the automobile stretch from the front wheel arches to the sculptural rear. The sculpted surfaces with their exact joints and reduced lines are highlighted by the clean design language. When viewed from the side, the bold character lines on the flank produce an intriguing interplay of light and shade.

The classic and athletic A-shape grille has been updated for the modern day. For the first time, a Mercedes-Benz production car features the cutting-edge seamless star panel completely lighted. A unique brand mark is produced by 142 individually animated LED chrome-effect stars. The CLA hybrid’s traditional radiator grille is one of the few cosmetic features that set it apart. It has a chrome Mercedes-Benz design that is surrounded by an LED light guide by default.

The Mercedes-Benz star is the shape of the daytime running lights when the optional MULTIBEAM LED headlights are installed. A ribbon of light connects the headlights. An illuminated design feature connects the taillights, which are likewise structured like stars. The CLA has a powerful and distinctive visual presence because of this mix. It comprises the new Mercedes-Benz trademark along with the optional MULTIBEAM LED headlights. It creates an unmistakable statement of legendary luxury by making a Mercedes easily recognizable day or night. The star-shaped chrome-plated design element is a feature of the standard-fit LED High Performance headlights.

A large panoramic roof is standard on all CLA variants. This one-piece fixed glass roof runs smoothly from the windscreen frame to the back and lacks a central bracing. It offers a fresh indoor experience with an almost unhindered upward perspective. In addition, compared to its predecessor, the panoramic roof helps to provide additional headroom. Low-emissivity (LowE) coating, infrared film, and heat-insulating laminated safety glass provide protection from heat and sunshine.

Within this car class, the CLA’s interior provides a new level of luxury. The design abides by the maxim “reduce to the essentials.” It highlights certain noteworthy high-tech components while downplaying the fundamental framework. The MBUX Superscreen, which spans the whole width of the interior and is optional, is the focal point. The driver display, measuring 26 centimeters (10.25 inches), and the center display, measuring 35.6 centimeters (14 inches), are located behind a huge glass surface. With an extra 35.6-centimeter (14-inch) display for the front passenger, the MBUX Superscreen will be offered as an optional extra once the CLA is introduced to the market. The center console is another eye-catcher.
