CARS CARS The new Audi A6 meets its elders after nine generations of triumph

More sporty, economical, and digital than ever before, the all-new Audi A6 Avant represents first-class travel in a way that no other car in the premium full-size class can match. The A6 Sedan will be on sale at the end of July, and it has been in showrooms around Europe since May 16. Modern gasoline and diesel engines power the two new A6 models, which are based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) system. The MHEV Plus mild hybrid technology lowers CO₂ emissions, improves performance and driving comfort, and complements the combustion engine. All-wheel steering and adaptable air suspension provide a smooth ride and quick handling in equal proportion, whether traveling long distances or in urban areas. The brand-new Audi A6 Avant combines outstanding aerodynamics with a sophisticated, dynamic appearance. Additionally, Audi offers plug-in hybrid versions of the Avant and Sedan.

Audi is carrying on the C series’ popularity with the ninth generation made in Neckarsulm. In 1968, the four-ringed brand was able to advance into the luxury mid-size market with the Audi 100. The Audi 100 (C1 to C4) was named World Car of the Year once, Car of the Year twice, and the Golden Steering Wheel five times. 3.2 million Audi 100s were sold overall, demonstrating the model series’ popularity and success. With a number of advancements, including the completely galvanized body, improved aerodynamics, and extremely economical engines, the generations that succeeded the C1 exemplified Vorsprung durch Technik. Since 1968, Audi has produced almost 10 million C-series automobiles; as of April 2025, 9,836,762 have been produced.

Large figures from a lengthy past. But the love and fervor for the C series extends much beyond that, even among the Audi employees. To welcome the new C9 Audi A6 Avant to the family, eight workers, each with a C model from one of the generations C1 to C8, met in front of the museum mobile at the Audi Piazza in Ingolstadt to take a very special picture.
